The Challenge

Mobile applications are bound to be an integral part of the digital services of many sectors and the high-end hospitality sector is definitely one of them. Five-star luxury hotel, Mas de Torrent quickly realized that a bespoke mobile application should be part of their services.

Mas de Torrent had come to the conclusion that their concierge service should be accompanied with a mobile application. They wanted a solution that would help their guests browse and sign up for the different services of the hotel directly from their phone. In addition to this digital concierge, Mas de Torrent felt that they wanted to add something that could activate their guests during the low-season and attract new guests. With this “something” they wanted their guests to understand that the beautiful surroundings of the hotel is equally beautiful and interesting during the winter months as well as the summer months.

The solution

Concierge - an easy-to-navigate directory
The directory is the starting point of the application, through an intuitive user interface guests of Mas de Torrent can easily find and quickly make reservations for the different services that the hotel puts at their disposal. Anything from ordering a massage session at the spa to ordering something special for the evening dinner, it’s all in the palm of your hand.

Mas Empordà - a hyperlocal guide curated by the hotel
In this section the user is presented with four sections, an agenda which presents the current and future activities in the area, the information is actively curated and picked by staff at the hotel itself. The second part of this section is a map of the Emporda, the part of Spain where the hotel is located. As in the agenda, staff at the hotel has hand-picked the hidden treasures of the area. The third area of this section consists of a direct access to book and reserve activities that takes place outside the hotel while the fourth area presents a five-day forecast of the local weather.

Book a room
The third section presents an easy and quick way to book a room. This funcionality seamlessly connects to the main Relais & Chateaux booking engine but the guest never leaves the app itself.

Last minute
In order to present the guest with last minute offers this section presents the guest with offers and ongoing activities.

The Result

A digital service such as this iOS app makes for a natural extension of the experience of staying at Mas de Torrent. The intuitive user interface puts the entire range of services of the hotel directly in the palm of the hand of their guests. Together with the hotel, new funcionality is already in the planning and a Blackberry version of the app is in the works.
